Running from 30 September until 03 October, the 2016 Sydney Architecture Festival aims to create a better understanding of the built environment through its program of talks, exhibitions and tours, but the real highlight on everyone’s calendar is the guided tour of Judith Wright’s new Chippendale residence, Indigo Slam, by architect William Smart. The art collector and generous philanthropist behind White Rabbit Gallery, also designed by Mr Smart, has recently completed construction on her new home, which she and the architect conceptualised as being the best in the world. Described as a piece of sculpture to be lived in, Indigo Slam is, as the images attest, truly something to behold, and beyond those lucky few close to its owner, this is a rare opportunity to see inside its curvaceous concrete walls.
