Where eyewear has become a fast-moving sector of the market, New Zealand maker Lewis Fredericks Eyewear practises a different methodology, choosing instead to craft time-honoured silhouettes from horn. Previously a wasted by-product of domesticated buffalo, ram and ox, the brand handcrafts horn into lightweight, durable pieces of design, with each pair unique to its maker and material. With time, a pair of frames from Lewis Fredericks flexes and moulds to the contour’s of the wearer’s face, become specific to their daily life. These qualities are evident in the brand’s new spring 2015/2016 campaign, the glasses and sunglasses seen in a range of different contexts.
