Korean menswear designer label Juun.J has been announced as this year’s guest designer at the Pitti Uomo menswear festival in Florence. As the first Korean designer to showcase his wares at the festival, which he will do in a one-of-a-kind event, Juun.J has become popular, since its launch in 2007, for its streetwear take on traditional tailoring. Previous designers featured as the guest of Pitti Uomo have included Jeremy Scott, helping to transition the event from being purely a tailoring trade fair to the fourth fashion week (between London and Milan and Paris) on the seasonal menswear circuit (although New York has since been tacked onto that calendar). 2016 Pitti Uomo, held in January, will also comprise the menswear final of the International Woolmark Prize, with Australia’s own P. Johnson Tailors staking it out against the likes of Agi & Sam and Siki Im. Manuscript will be on the ground to report on the winner.
