World has always been one that aesthetically delights, and for autumn/winter 2015 the New Zealand-based label has explored modern man’s ongoing desire to “turn the functional into the visually stimulating by the use of seemingly simple patterns and repetitious shapes,” according to designer Benny Castles. While essentially built around a core of traditional tailoring - suits, shirts, overcoats and, for the slightly more daring, ponchos - the collection is distinguished by its employment of prints that draw on the worlds of mathematics, geometry, cubism and graphic designer, the like M.C. Escher-like motif in the above imagery. The balance here between classicism (cuts and styles) and daring (colours and patterns) is what makes these elements mash together so very well, each element imbuing the other with a sense of modernity and newfound relevance. The collection is available to shop online now.
